“Loss and Gain” | POEM of the week

by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow      When I compare What I have lost with what I have gained, What I have missed with what attained,   Little room do I find for pride.      I am aware How many days have been idly spent; How like an arrow the good intent   Has fallen short or been turned aside.      But who shall dare To measure loss and gain in this wise? Defeat may be victory in disguise;   The lowest ebb is the turn of the tide. "a righteous man falleth seven times, and riseth up again" Proverbs 24:16 ASV

Matthew 28 | BIBLE PASSAGE of the week

In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: and for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men . And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you. And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word. And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And

Now when the even was come, he sat down with the twelve. And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me. And they were exceeding sorrowful, and began every one of them to say unto him, Lord, is it I? And he answered and said, He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me. The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born. Then Judas, which betrayed him, answered and said, Master, is it I? He said unto him, Thou hast said. And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it , and brake it , and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; for this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vin

Amen | 3D ART of the week

Image
Created in September 2016, this 3D art piece is about 19 inches wide,  15⅝ inches high, and  ¾ inches deep. Pins are nailed into the painted piece of wood, and black string is wrapped around those pins to depict a musical score. The musical selection is the very ending of Amen, which is the very last chorus of Handel's oratorio Messiah. You can hear the specific section in this video from 7:04 to the end (you might want to turn down your volume). "And the four beasts said, Amen." Revelation 5:14
